Abstract

This research is motivated by the difficulties experienced by students in understanding Indonesian language material, especially in understanding text material, and difficulties in communicating using good and correct Indonesian. This is influenced by the way the teacher delivers the material. For this reason, educators must plan to learn with appropriate methods to achieve maximum learning objectives. So the purpose of this study was to find out the results of applying the Storytelling Relay method and student responses to Drama Text Material Theme 3 Sub-theme 4 Learning 1 Class II SDN Sumur Welut III/440 Surabaya for the 2020/2021 school year. The method used in this research is the descriptive quantitative research method. The subjects of this study were students of class II-A SDN Sumur Welut III/440 Surabaya for the academic year 2020/2021, totaling 14 people. Data collection techniques used are observation and response questionnaires. The results of the study in the application of the Storytelling Relay Method were that the activities of educators and student activities were carried out well. The response of students to the application of the Storytelling Relay Method was said to be good. This is evidenced by the results of the percentage calculation, which is 83 percent of students like the way of teaching used by educators and makes it easier for students to understand the material.
